Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Thursday said it is a positive development that the United States continues to expose European bureaucrats on issues that Georgian Dream has been discussing for the past four years.
In his remarks, Machavariani noted that the US was essentially echoing the same concerns the Georgian Dream had repeatedly expressed regarding practices implemented by Eurocrats.
“We saw this clearly in Georgia, when in 2024 their [EU] Ambassador openly called on the public, just a few days before the elections, not to vote for the Georgian Dream”, he said.
The US House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary has published an interim report titled “The Threat of Foreign Censorship, Part II: Europe’s Decade-Long Campaign for Global Internet Censorship and How It Harms Freedom of Expression in the United States”.
One of the chapters of the report claims that “the European Commission regularly interferes in national elections of EU member states”.
