Commenting on an interim report by the US House Judiciary, Davit Matikashvili, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, on Thursday said that the serious problems with freedom of speech and expression in the European Union had long been raised in the United States, and “Georgia has repeatedly made relevant statements on the matter”.
In his remarks, Matikashvili noted that there were attempts to block everything that did not align with the so-called “deep state”.
“Whether it concerns gender issues, national or ethnic identity issues, and so on, this practically reflects a policy in the European Union that is loyal to and accommodating of the implementation of hatred and ‘deep state’ policies”, he concluded.
The US House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary has published an interim report titled “The Threat of Foreign Censorship, Part II: Europe’s Decade-Long Campaign for Global Internet Censorship and How It Harms Freedom of Expression in the United States”.
One of the chapters of the report claims that “the European Commission regularly interferes in national elections of EU member states”.
