Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to reset relations with the United States and restore the strategic partnership, emphasising openness to dialogue and cooperation that serves the interests of both countries.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Botchorishvili noted that the Georgian Government has consistently expressed its desire to renew ties with Washington after the strategic partnership was suspended during the Biden administration.
“The Georgian authorities have stated on numerous occasions that we wish to reset relations with the United States and restore our strategic partnership, which was suspended during the Biden administration. We are patiently awaiting a proposal from the United States to renew and reset relations with Georgia”, she said.
The Foreign Minister placed particular importance on recent interactions, including the visit of a US congressional staff delegation to Georgia and Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia’s ongoing trip to Washington.
“Mr. Lasha Darsalia’s visit to Washington serves the purpose of communicating about Georgia with as many people as possible and, of course, ensuring that Georgia remains on the agenda of the United States. We are ready to reset relations and resume discussions on cooperation between the two countries that will be in line with the interests of both nations”, she concluded.
