Protection of constitutional order is the starting point of any legal state, said on Wednesday the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that a country or state could not develop peacefully if it was constantly in a state of sabotage, so everyone must respect the order that had been established.
“Constitutional order must be protected, this is the starting point of any legal state, democracy must be recognised by everyone, constitutional principles and the constitutional order must be recognised by everyone. If there are problems in this regard, of course, all this should be regulated by legislation. Accordingly, I believe that this is a very important and timely initiative and I hope that the Parliament will bring this draft law to a conclusion”, the PM said.
“The boundary must be respected and this requires a legal assessment. In my legal assessment, the boundary is properly respected here. One is freedom of expression and the other is the strength of the constitutional order, which is one of the supreme interests. A country, a state cannot develop peacefully if it is constantly in a state of sabotage. Therefore, everyone must respect the order that has been established. We all see that in reality, everyone recognises this constitutional system, constitutional bodies, it is just that there are constant opposing messages in order to try to prevent this country from completely calming down. We have an opposing interest. Our public has an opposing interest in calming down this country and everyone must respect our democratic system, our constitutional order, the draft law that was initiated is based on this principle”, he concluded.
Georgian Parliament on Tuesday approved the amendments to the Law on Grants in its first reading, clarifying the definition of grants and introducing stricter rules for foreign funding, political activities, and associated criminal liabilities.
