Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said Tbilisi was ready to reset its relations with Washington and leave behind the harmful practices of the previous administration, including interference in Georgian elections.
A journalist asked Papuashvili about his expectations following the meeting between Lasha Darsalia, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and a senior US State Department official regarding the US-Georgia relationship.
“Normal working relations continue between the foreign offices of the United States and Georgia. This was a working meeting focused on bilateral ties. As for political relations between the states, we remain in a mode of expectation. There is a readiness on our part to reset relations, to leave behind the harmful practices that the previous [Biden] administration carried out against the Georgian people, including interference in Georgian elections, which was part of the Biden administration’s policy. We are ready to turn the page and restart relations between Georgia and the United States”, the Sperkar said.
