Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Saturday strongly criticised German MEP Michael Gahler for using what he called “foolish, dehumanising” language against Georgian leaders, asserting that such rhetoric harms the reputation of Germany rather than diminishing Georgia’s officials.
Papuashvili’s remarks followed a social media message by Member of the European Parliament Michael Gahler, in which he claimed that “these Moscovite creatures Ivanishvili, Kobakhidze and Co are the ones that should leave the country”.

In a social message, Papuashvili called on Gahler to delete the post and apologise to correct what he described as a grave mistake.
“Such crass, dehumanising language does not demean Georgian leadership as much as stain the country’s image this German politician represents. This atavistic blunder can be redeemed by deleting or apologising for this unworthy post”, the Speaker said.
