Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said that the situation in European bureaucracy was “very serious” and that transformative changes were necessary for a positive shift in the EU’s approach toward Georgia and its citizens.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze expressed a lack of optimism regarding an imminent healthy or balanced EU position toward Georgia, citing what he described as long-standing support for or encouragement of violence within the country.
“The situation in European bureaucracy is very serious today. If there are transformative changes, then the approach towards the Georgian people and our state will also change”, he said.
“I cannot be optimistic. Support for violence and the encouragement of violence in our country has continued for so long that we do not expect a healthy position here either. However, I hope there will be transformative changes in European bureaucracy. Today, the situation in European bureaucracy is very serious. If there are transformative changes, then the approach towards the Georgian people and our state will also change”, Kobakhidze concluded.
