The Georgian Government’s question about why the European Union ambassador has not condemned the violent events of October 4, including the storming of the presidential palace, remains unanswered.
Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, on Friday stated that pro-European sentiment in Georgia has, unfortunately, become synonymous with violence.
“Pro-Europeanism, in our context, has regrettably turned into the refusal to recognize election results without justification and the encouragement of attempts to overthrow the state. They do not want to acknowledge the elections, including the conclusions of their own observers from ODIHR and the EU, but they want to support and implement the calls made at the October 4 rally”, Kadagishvili said.
