Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday commented on updated global unemployment data, according to which Georgia recorded its lowest unemployment rate of the 21st century in 2024.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that the outcome was reflecting the Government’s correct economic policy and its focus on national interests.
“This is the result of the economic policy pursued by the Georgian Government. It is the result of following our national interests, not Brussels’ interests. I emphasise that if we had listened to Brussels, we would not be seeing employment growth today - we would be an economically devastated country. Brussels demanded that we effectively shoot ourselves in the foot by cutting off all trade with Russia”, the Speaker said.
He also noted that Moldova, which followed Brussels’ recommendations, experienced an economic downturn.
