Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said his Government had succeeded in properly informing the public, shedding light on developments that, according to him, include frequent falsehoods coming from European bureaucracy.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze noted this was the main reason why European statements, approaches, and actions have lost credibility among the Georgian public.
“Previously, the Western space, including the European Union, was perceived by the overwhelming majority of Georgian citizens as an ideal phenomenon - something without mistakes or problems. In reality, everything has now come to light, including the lies we were hearing with great frequency from European bureaucracy”, the PM said.
He emphasised that the European bureaucracy should bear responsibility for this loss of trust, noting that it does not operate independently but under informal influences that shape its decisions.
“One of the reasons European statements and approaches no longer carry weight in the eyes of Georgian society is the clear presence of double standards”, he continued.
He further pointed to objective international indices and rankings compiled by highly reputable organisations, which, according to him, assess the Georgian state far more positively than evaluations made by European bureaucratic bodies.
“These European assessments are completely detached from objective reality, and Georgian society sees this clearly. Under such conditions, it should not surprise anyone that European statements directed against Georgia no longer have any credibility in the eyes of the public”, Kobakhidze concluded.
