Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, on Wednesday said it was in the interest of the United States to regain real leverage that, in his view, has largely been taken over by the European Union.
In his remarks, Volski noted that European countries have placed significant responsibilities on Washington without taking into account the opinion of the American public.
“It is in the interests of the United States to hold the actual leverage that the European Union has largely seized - such as when it caused a war in the heart of Europe, leaving a now-exhausted Europe dependent on the United States”, the Parliament official said.
“I think that in the near future it will be impossible to fix these relations unless many things change within Europe itself”, Volski concluded.
