Nino Tsilosani, the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday dismissed the prospects of radical opposition forces creating any meaningful political process, arguing that they have been fully discredited and no longer enjoy either public trust or external support.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Tsilosani suggested that both domestic credibility and foreign backing for these groups had significantly diminished, leaving them politically ineffective.
“It must be taken into account that the patrons of the radicals now have other concerns and problems of their own. We know that those Eurocrats and shadow forces who supported and financed them are now in a completely different position. They have to defend their own countries or positions, and therefore there is no longer any expectation of external assistance”, she said.
The Vice Speaker also rejected the idea that uniting this segment of the opposition could produce any results.
“As for the radical politicians who have been completely reduced to zero - zero plus zero equals zero. Therefore, no matter how many of these discredited politicians there are, they cannot create any political process. It is inconceivable for them to recover after having discredited themselves to such an extent. It is inconceivable that every one of their plans has failed, that they have been completely shattered, and yet they could create any kind of process”, she noted.
Tsilosani further highlighted that politicians who have entirely discredited themselves were incapable of launching or sustaining a political process, regardless of how many of them attempt to act together.
“It is also inconceivable that these so-called politicians, who are already perceived as agents in the eyes of every Georgian, could engage in any meaningful activity”, Tsilosani concluded.
