A governmental coordination commission chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will begin work on the prices of food products, medicines, and fuel. The decision was made at the commission’s first meeting, held on Tuesday at the Government Administration.
Commission members discussed an action plan for the coming weeks, which includes meetings with manufacturers, as well as representatives of retail chains and distribution companies.
The commission will work in coordination with the relevant parliamentary commission and is expected to complete its work by the end of April.
The public will be provided with detailed information on the real cost of products, what price structures include, and where illogical price markups exist. Commission members expressed hope that price reductions would begin already during the course of the work.
