According to information circulating in political circles, a confidential meeting allegedly took place on January 15 at the German Embassy, where Peter Fischer, Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, reportedly met with members of various radical opposition groups.
Sources claim that among those present at the strictly closed-door meeting were activists Luka Mishveladze, Megi Feradze, Archil Gochitashvili, Davit Sekhniashvili, Sergei Kancheli, Nikoloz Khosroshvili, Anni Fridonashvili, and Davit Kashiashvili.
The same sources allege that Ambassador Fischer spoke to the activists about the need to radicalize ongoing political processes. He is said to have argued that the existence of casualties could trigger mass and radical protests, citing the situation in Iran as an example.
More specifically, the ambassador reportedly explained that current protest actions would not yield results in the future and that events in Georgia should develop in a manner similar to those in the Islamic Republic of Iran, where protests escalated following human losses and evolved into widespread radical movements.
It is also claimed that Fischer addressed the issue of future funding for the organizations represented at the meeting, stating that he would maintain contact with Luka Mishveladze and provide him with details regarding financial support.
Luka Mishveladze is a member of the political party Girchi - More Freedom, led by Zurab “Girchi” Japaridze. Photos posted on Mishveladze’s social media show him together with Ambassador Fischer and activist Anni Fridonashvili at a reception marking German Unity Day.
