Giorgi Sosiashvili, the Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, and Youth Affairs, on Saturday said that the United Nations’ forecast naming Georgia as the fastest-growing economy in the South Caucasus in 2026 once again confirmed the correctness of the Georgian Government’s policies in national development, security, and economic growth.
Sosiashvili commented on the United Nations’ World Economic Situation and Prospects 2026 report, which projected Georgia as the leading country in the Caucasus in terms of economic growth this year.
In his remarks, Sosiashvili noted that the UN forecast and other existing studies clearly demonstrated that the course pursued by the Georgian Government was producing tangible results.
“The UN forecast and existing studies show and once again confirm how correct the course taken by our country’s government is in terms of national development, national security, and economic growth, and these results are clearly visible”, he said.
The official emphasised that Georgia has become a frontrunner in the region and a model for others in terms of governance and long-term development.
“I believe that Georgia has become a leading country in the South Caucasus, a model state for everyone in terms of how a Government should develop the country’s future in the right direction and how the economy should then be built on this foundation. This is what confirms it”, Sosiashvili concluded.
The United Nations on Friday released its World Economic Situation and Prospects 2026 report, highlighting that Georgia would achieve the highest economic growth in the Caucasus next year, with a projected rate of 5.4%, significantly outpacing neighbouring countries and other Eastern European economies.
