Davit Matikashvili, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, on Friday dismissed opposition statements as baseless and ineffective and emphasised that the opposition was entirely disconnected from reality, living in illusions and having lost public support.
In his remarks, Matikashvili noted that political forces with zero public trust were incapable of remaining on the political stage.
“The opposition is absolutely detached from reality. They are trapped in illusory perceptions and have lost the ability to assess themselves and measure their approval ratings. If they closely observe public attitudes toward radical groups, they will see that they lack not only the capacity to regroup or introduce new rules of the game, but even the basic means to exist and remain on the political scene. They do not have the trust of our society”, he said.
The official added that ongoing opposition initiatives amount to nothing more than attempts to mislead a small group of supporters.
“All of this is absurd, false, and yet another effort to throw dust in the eyes of their handful of followers. A plan is judged by its seriousness based on who drafts and presents it. When a so-called political force with zero approval rating tries to keep itself afloat and continues to offer lies to the public, it will have no result. It will remain the same empty piece of paper it is today”, Matikashvili concluded.
