According to all fact-based indexes and ratings, Georgia is far ahead in terms of democracy, human rights, and many other aspects, such as budget transparency, government transparency, and so on, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with TRT World.
In response to the journalist’s question regarding the joint statement issued last July by 19 foreign ministers of the European Union, who expressed deep concern about the deteriorating situation in Georgia, Kobakhidze noted that nobody could explain what the content of these statements was.
“Nobody can explain what the content of these statements is. There is no explanation, nothing. Georgia is a democratic country. Georgia is the most democratic country in the region, but also outside of it. If we look at all the objective assessments, there are different ratings, different indices, including those published by the European Commission, those under the European Commission, but also published by many other organisations. According to all the fact-based indices and ratings, Georgia is far ahead in terms of democracy, human rights and many other things, such as budget transparency, government transparency, etc. If we take into account all the different criteria, Georgia is in a much better position than any other candidate country. In some cases, for example, in terms of low corruption, we are in a better position than 7-8 countries of the European Union, according to objective assessments. So, these are the facts”, the Prime Minister said.
