The war in Ukraine could have been avoided, but the international community did little to fully focus on it - Ukraine is now destroyed, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with TRT WORLD.
Kobakhidze noted that he fully agrees with US President Donald Trump when he says that this war would not have happened during his presidency.
“President Trump says that this war would not have happened during his presidency, and I fully agree with that. Of course, this war could have been avoided, but the international community did little to fully focus on it. And in the end, you see that the country - a very good country, a friendly country, Ukraine - is now destroyed. They face huge problems, there are so many casualties, infrastructure is destroyed, the economy is destroyed”, the PM said.
When asked whether he perceives this war as a proxy war between Russia and the United States, Irakli Kobakhidze stated that it is a proxy war between the Western community and Russia.
“The US administration says that this is a proxy war. I would not say that it is the United States, but it is a proxy war between the Western community and Russia. Therefore, I am simply repeating the wording of the new US administration”, he concluded.
