Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said Georgia was the most prepared among candidate countries for European Union membership, emphasising the country’s recent progress and alignment with EU standards.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili expressed confidence in Georgia’s readiness for EU accession.
“I hope that by 2030 the European Union will be in a position to give enlargement policy a real form and open its doors to new states for membership. The Georgian Government does not make false claims. The Georgian Government states that Georgia will be the best-prepared candidate among all candidate countries at the time when the EU opens its doors to new states for membership”, she said.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the significant reforms and development the country has achieved in recent years, positioning Georgia as a leading candidate when the EU eventually expands to include new member states.
“Even today, Georgia is the best-prepared state. Considering the progress Georgia has made in recent years, we have every reason to think positively, to believe that in the next five years Georgia will be even further ahead, even better prepared, more aligned with EU standards, and more capable of competing alongside developed countries in the competitive environment within the EU”, Botchorishvili concluded.
