Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Human Rights and Civic Integration Committee, on Monday said that no matter how unfair the EU Enlargement Report was, it had no impact on Georgian society.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Ionatamishvili noted that, unfortunately, European bodies were treating Georgia unfairly every time.
“Not only do they produce subjective reports and statements, but they also come into conflict with the very values that the European Union itself stands for. It is a fact that we are dealing with a deviation from these values. Considering such unjust approaches, we can confidently say that no matter how unfair this report is, it will have no impact on our society”, the Parliament official said.
The enlargement report is expected to be published on Tuesday. The Georgian Government, however, anticipates yet another subjective assessment.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili commented that it was symbolic that EU actors have remained silent for a month regarding the attempted overthrow of the Government and the assault on the presidential palace.
Papuashvili noted that no one should expect to impose hostile and anti-democratic narratives on the Georgian people under the guise of European values.
