Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Saturday highlighted the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand as a key platform for advancing bilateral and multilateral discussions on peace, cultural preservation, and cooperation.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili emphasised Georgia’s active use of the forum to promote national priorities within the organisation.
“We discussed the important issues that we see could be the focus of our cooperation and work within UNESCO”, she said.
The Foreign Minister underscored the importance of international gatherings in fostering dialogue and strengthening global partnerships.
“Of course, it is important that the work of international organisations be directed toward strengthening peace and cooperation in the world. International gatherings always provide a good opportunity to hold meetings with our colleagues from various countries. We used this format once again to discuss issues important to us”, Botchorishvili concluded.
Amid the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, a special Georgian pavilion was inaugurated to showcase the nation’s cultural treasures.
The event featured a reception with live performances of Georgian polyphonic music, opened by Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, who celebrated Georgia’s 8,000-year winemaking tradition and UNESCO-recognized heritage.
