Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said the Georgian Government was fully committed to complying with EU sanctions and ensuring the country was not used to evading them, stressing that Georgia’s actions have been guided by good faith and transparency since 2022.
“The reality is very simple - Georgia is acting in good faith and doing everything to cooperate in line with the sanctions imposed by the European Union, ensuring the country is not used as a place to evade those sanctions. We have successfully done so since 2022, and there has not been a single instance where Georgia has been accused of wrongdoing”, she noted.
“However, since 2022, we have also witnessed an aggressive campaign branding Georgia as a ‘black hole’, involving international actors, opposition representatives, and several organisations. This campaign is aimed at damaging Georgia’s image and undermining its interests, and it will likely continue in the future”, the FM continued.
Botchorishvili further added that the Georgian Government continued to counter such accusations through cooperation and transparent action.
“We respond with our steps - through our actions and cooperation with international partners, for which Georgia continues to receive appreciation for its integrity and fulfillment of commitments”, she concluded.
