Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday met with World Bank Regional Director Roland Price and Global Education Director Luis Benveniste to present his Government’s higher education reform plan and discuss ongoing economic cooperation.
Kobakhidze highlighted key challenges within the education system, identifying the main objectives of the reform as the geographical deconcentration of the system, optimisation of resources, qualitative improvement of university infrastructure, and enhancement of education quality.
He emphasised the importance of the World Bank’s support in successfully implementing the higher education reform.
The discussion further covered economic cooperation with the World Bank, noting that the World Bank’s current portfolio in Georgia includes eight active investments with a total value exceeding $975 million.
