Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday criticised EU Ambassador Paweł Herczyński’s remarks on Georgia’s recent legislation, and accused Brussels of supporting radicalism under the guise of EU principles.
Herczyński on Friday stated that these laws were incompatible with EU principles, warning that they could jeopardize Georgia’s path to EU membership.
In response, Papuashvili defended the legislation, accusing Brussels of using its influence to covertly fund radicalism and propaganda.
“The only thing the laws adopted by the Georgian Parliament contradict is the desire of Brussels’ current bureaucracy to secretly fund radicalism and propaganda, which has nothing to do with EU principles, and I deeply regret having to say this openly and directly”, the Speaker said.
