We have done everything over the past years to maintain peace in our country, said on Wednesday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a panel discussion at the ongoing Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.
In his address, Kobakhidze noted that his Government was also doing its best to contribute to strengthening peace in a wider region.
He further emphasised that Georgia was a reliable partner for neighbouring countries.
“Once again, I would like to emphasise the importance of peace. We have done everything in the past years to maintain peace in our country. Also, all these years we have been doing everything in order to make the maximum contribution to strengthening peace in our region, in a wider region. We believe that we are a reliable partner for our neighboring countries. When it comes to, among other things, economic ties, transit, etc., Georgia has always played the role of such a reliable partner for our friendly countries. We are glad that in the political sense we are connected by a strategic partnership, both with Azerbaijan and Armenia. Of course, we are focused on developing this cooperation as much as possible”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze highlighted that Central Asia was a special priority for his Government, adding there was even more potential in this regard to develop cooperation.
“And I would like to emphasise that Georgia is interesting for all countries in terms of connectivity, also in terms of the fact that we have very good trade relations with various countries around the world. We have free trade agreements with the European Union, European Free Trade Association countries, as well as with the Commonwealth of Independent States countries, Turkey, China, the United Arab Emirates. Of course, this also strengthens our potential in terms of connectivity”, he noted.
Kobakhidze further added that his Government was absolutely open to cooperation with everyone.
“This is our policy. We are completely focused on strengthening peace, cooperation, developing economic partnership, and of course, we will continue to act in this spirit in the future. We hope for cooperation and partnership from all friendly countries”, he concluded.
