Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said that when the ruling party's only opponent was a criminal political force in the form of the collective United National Movement opposition, a healthy democratic system could not be established.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that the constitutional lawsuit that would be filed with the Constitutional Court in a few days served precisely to develop the healthy political system.
He further added that the most important thing for the Government was to file a valid lawsuit with the Constitutional Court in order to create a healthy democratic system in the country once and for all.
“In conditions when the only opponent of the ruling team is a criminal political force in the form of the collective [United] National Movement, of course, a healthy democratic system cannot be established, therefore we need to develop a healthy democratic system, the political system, and this is what the lawsuit that will be filed with the Constitutional Court in a few days serves. There are a few days left until the lawsuit is filed, the list will be announced as soon as we file the lawsuit”, the PM said.
Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Monday announced that the ruling team would file a lawsuit prepared based on the conclusion of the Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission, examining crimes committed by the former United National Movement Government between 2003 and 2012, with the Constitutional Court in the near future.
