Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said his Government’s top priority was to ensure that Georgian students receive high-quality, modern education in their own country, with the newly outlined seven objectives aimed at addressing the main challenge - quality.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that a great deal of work had been done, highlighting that the challenges and priorities have been clearly identified, and everything will be done to fully implement this concept.
“The main challenge is quality. We still lack adequate, modern, high standards in our higher education system. The seven objectives we have set within the concept are focused on overcoming this key challenge”, the PM said.
“We want Georgian students to receive high-quality education in their own country - this is the primary goal of higher education reform. A great deal of work has been done; the challenges and priorities have been clearly identified, and everything will be done to fully implement this concept. This is our main priority”, he concluded.
During the presentation of the education reform project, the Georgian Prime Minister on Thursday announced the necessity of “drastic, fundamental steps” toward university reform to establish a “qualitatively different system of higher education” in the country, one that aligns with modern international standards.
Regarding the implementation of the new project, the Government head stated that the document would undergo public discussion before taking its final shape.
