Georgian Parliament on Thursday adopted amendments to the law on the Constitutional Court of Georgia in its third reading, with 81 votes in favour.
The amendments introduce significant restrictions and penalties, primarily targeting banned political parties and non-compliance with the Constitutional Court's rulings.
If the Constitutional Court rules to ban a specific political party, any person associated with that party will be prohibited from founding a new political party, leading or being a member of a political party, holding a party position, state and political, political position, or a senior position in a body stipulated by the Constitution of Georgia.
Disobedience to a decision made by the Constitutional Court by a political party will result in their fining under criminal procedure.
