Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said certain political parties and politicians in Georgia were acting as part of an “agent network” in the country and would face appropriate consequences.
Kaladze's remarks came in response to a planned constitutional court lawsuit seeking the ban of specific political entities.
“These are specific political parties and politicians who represent an agent network in the country, who are traitors, serving the interests of another country, and carrying out external instructions and tasks”, the ruling party official said.
“Of course, there is no place for such politicians and political parties in our country. They will face the appropriate response, which will certainly be followed by corresponding measures”, he concluded.
Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Monday announced that the ruling team would file a lawsuit prepared based on the conclusion of the Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission, examining crimes committed by the former United National Movement Government between 2003 and 2012, with the Constitutional Court in the near future.
He noted that the investigative commission produced a “very serious conclusion” and emphasised that the ruling party had previously pledged to prepare a Constitutional Court lawsuit based on that report.
