Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed that Finland’s Foreign Minister had been assigned to “encourage a revolutionary process” in the country - a mission he said was “doomed to fail from the outset”.
In his interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster, Kobakhidze described the move as part of a broader decline in European bureaucracy, which he said has “fallen to the level of Baia Pataraia”, a Georgian feminist activist and government critic.
“Just like Baia Pataraia, this lady [the Finnish Minister] also receives assignments. There is no difference between them. This is the most tragic thing in the EU space today - that European bureaucracy has sunk to Baia Pataraia’s level”, the PM said.
He further stressed that European officials were simply following “orders” regardless of the truth or facts.
“Whatever task they are given, they carry it out. Didn’t this person disgrace herself? She joined an illegal rally of about 50 people and lied that crowds were gathering, that Finnish flags were flying. She said absurd things. This is even lower than Baia Pataraia’s level, lower than Salome Zourabichvili’s level. This is the real face of European bureaucracy today”, he continued.
The Georgian leader concluded that such actions reflect a deliberate campaign by European officials, who, despite “knowing the truth”, still “choose to follow instructions”.
Kobakhidze on Wednesday canceled a scheduled meeting with Finland’s visiting Foreign Minister due to her participation in an illegal rally and false statements made on Tuesday.
