Georgia’s advancement in the Chandler Institute’s Good Government Index, particularly regarding transparency, reflects the recent reforms undertaken, said on Monday Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Georgian Government Administration.
In his remarks, Zhorzholiani noted that according to the report, Georgia surpasses 29 countries that are members of the European Union, the Schengen Area, and NATO.
Across Europe, the Georgian Government ranks ninth in terms of transparency and good governance.
“This advancement is closely linked to the reforms implemented in recent times. Notably, by decision of the Prime Minister, all governmental directives have been made public, allowing any interested party to review decisions made by the Government”, he said.
“This enhances efforts to combat corruption, which remains one of the greatest challenges for governments, while transparency itself helps shield authorities from corruption risks. Additionally, we rank first in the world for budget transparency. Transparency is one of the key guiding principles of today’s Government”, Zhorzholiani concluded.
