Vladimir Bozhadze, the Chair of the parliamentary political group European Socialists, on Monday said the Georgian state was standing firm, and that everyone should bear in mind that the fate of the country would never again be decided in the streets.
Bozhadze’s comments came after a large quantity of firearms, ammunition, and explosive materials with detonators were discovered by the security services.
“Earlier, an explosive substance, hexogen, was discovered, which apparently was also intended for the October 4 events. And what we witnessed today suggests that if the storming of the presidential palace or other administrative buildings had been successful, then it seems that these weapons would have been used, and the confrontation would have been even deeper than we can imagine”, Bozhadze said.
“However, yesterday it was once again confirmed that the state stands firm, and everyone should know that the fate of this country will never again be decided in the streets”, he concluded.
