Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday responded to today’s rally announced by the radical opposition by saying that if the opposition resorted to violence, they would receive a very strict response under the law.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze stressed that the violence could not go unanswered.
“There are two theoretical scenarios, one is when the gathering is peaceful and in such a case, they will simply gather and disperse. The second theoretical scenario is when they turn to violence, when they try, for example, to storm specific administrative buildings or assault police officers, etc. Of course, in such a case, they will receive a very strict, legal response. A proportionate, but strict response based on the law - of course, violence cannot go unanswered”, Kobakhidze said.
