Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday expressed satisfaction that the local self-governmental elections were being held in a peaceful atmosphere and voters had the opportunity to make their own choices in a calm environment, free from any kind of pressure or influence.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze thanked each and every voter who had already shown up at polling stations.
“According to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, almost 1,200,000 voters have already participated in the elections, which, in principle, coincides with the turnout indicators for the 2014 and 2017 local self-government elections. On behalf of the Georgian Dream election headquarters, I would like to thank each voter who has already appeared at the polling stations. Additionally, I would like to once again call on voters to be active. Each voter’s vote makes a significant contribution to the peaceful and stable development of our country and each municipality”, the PM said.
“We are pleased that the elections are being held in a peaceful environment. Voters have the opportunity to make their own choice in a calm environment, free from any kind of pressure and influence”, he continued.
He further added that the Georgian Dream was convincingly winning both the mayoral and city council elections in all municipalities, based on data from election headquarters.
“We would like to inform you that according to the data of our election headquarters, the Georgian Dream is convincingly winning both the mayoral and city council elections in all municipalities. Moreover, according to the data of our election headquarters, in all municipalities, including Tbilisi and other large cities, the result in favour of the Georgian Dream is over 70 percent. We greatly appreciate the people's high level of trust and once again promise that we will do our utmost to justify this trust”, he concluded.
