Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Saturday said the state today was stronger than it had ever been, stressing that “every institution has its duties and responsibilities”, and expressing confidence that “everyone will fulfill their constitutional obligations”.
In his remarks, Kavelashvili credited the wisdom and prudence of Georgian citizens for the country’s progress, while accusing externally influenced radicals of impeding even greater development.
“I want to encourage the citizens of Georgia and also express gratitude to them, because without the wisdom and prudence of the majority of Georgia’s population, our country would not be at this stage of development today. I bow to the majority of our society, who understand the current situation well and always make choices in favour of Georgia’s development. This is the main message”, the President said.
“The reason Georgia is not developing at an even faster pace is due to the actions of externally controlled radicals who reject all of this. Just as a representative of one of the externally funded radical television outlets present here tries to disregard everything - the meeting with Trump, the relationships, the recognition of the success of Georgian society and the Georgian state - there is also a small portion of our society that is deceived, while some are funded, and they act against statehood”, he continued.
The President emphasised that Georgia’s peace, stability, and growth serve as a model for others, urging citizens to maintain this momentum.
“Georgian society is quite wise. The experience our society has gained, the peace, stability, and pace of development are exemplary for all. The state today is very strong, stronger than ever before. Every institution has its obligations and responsibilities, and I am confident that all will fulfil their state duties and responsibilities, and everything will be just fine. Because the choice is very simple to make, these development paces will not be stopped under any circumstances, and every one of us has the responsibility to maintain this state of affairs and further strengthen, unify, and advance our country”, he concluded.
