Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday featured at a panel discussion on Economic Security - Reducing European Dependencies within the framework of the 7th Summit of the European Political Community.
Speaking at the roundtable discussion, the Prime Minister underscored Georgia’s transit potential and the country’s pivotal role in the Middle Corridor.
Kobakhidze highlighted Georgia’s strategic location, international cooperation in mineral resources, and noted that the country had the potential to contribute to the development of stable and diversified supply chains for critical raw materials, not only for the European Union but also globally.
“Georgia’s goal is to further develop the Middle Corridor by enhancing its efficiency, thereby strengthening its role as a reliable and competitive East-West transport route. Our strategic location enables us to serve as a vital transit gateway within the corridor. Through ports, railways, and highways, Georgia facilitates the rapid movement of goods and strengthens the corridor’s competitiveness, which increases the country’s role in global supply chains”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze also reviewed major ongoing infrastructure projects in Georgia, including the construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the modernisation of the country’s railway system, both aimed at boosting Georgia’s logistical capabilities.
