David Matikashvili, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, on Thursday said the development and progress of Georgia would continue both now and after the upcoming local elections scheduled for Saturday.
In his remarks, Matikashvili noted that external forces that oppose Georgia’s progress and success were constantly attempting to sow discord in the country’s development.
“Unfortunately, since 2012, in addition to significant and major victories, there have also been instances of betrayal within the team. Mr. Bidzina [Ivanishvili] has addressed this, and within this context, naturally, external forces - those who do not wish for Georgia’s progress and success - constantly try to create dissonance in our country’s development, attempting to pass their own will off as the will of the people”, the official said.
“Naturally, the state will not allow this. The development and progress of our country will continue - just as it has until now, and also after the October 4 elections”, he concluded.
