Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday highlighted the importance of Georgia’s participation in the European Political Community (EPC) summit, noting that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s presence at discussions on economic matters in Denmark was strengthening the country’s role in European dialogue.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili emphasised that the European Political Community had become one of the most valuable platforms for European leaders to meet, exchange views, and deliberate on issues vital to the continent.
“The European Political Community format has become an important platform for European leaders. Discussions cover all key issues that concern the European region. For us, it is very important that Georgia is a participant in these discussions and that the Prime Minister of Georgia will take part in discussions on economic issues. In general, this is the best format for meetings, as well as communication with representatives of various countries and for discussions on issues of importance to Europe”, Botchorishvili said.
The Foreign Minister also pointed out that France recently introduced an anti-narcotics initiative within the EPC, which Georgia supported.
“There are various initiatives in this format that concern not only the security of Europe but also its economic development. France had an initiative to unite the efforts of European countries in the fight against drugs. We are joining this initiative”, she noted.
She explained that the fight against drugs has become a national priority, and cooperation on this issue aligns with Georgia’s ongoing domestic efforts.
“This issue is very important for Georgia, especially since in recent times intensive work has been underway on this problem, on the fight against drugs, and this initiative introduced by France within this format has been supported by us”, she concluded.
