In his address at a reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said China was an example for all civilised nations through its focus on progress, modernisation, and development, while also strengthening global peace.
Extending congratulations to Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Zhou Qian and to the people of China, Kobakhidze emphasised the country’s significant role in shaping the post–World War II international order.
“We attach great importance to the close and dynamic partnership with the People’s Republic of China. Our friendship is based on mutual respect, trust, and shared priorities. The elevation of Georgia-China relations to the strategic level reflects the depth of our common interests. Georgia once again reaffirms its strong commitment and full readiness to strengthen cooperation in all areas. I am confident that our joint initiatives and projects will reinforce this partnership and bring tangible results”, the PM said.
Highlighting the opportunities created through the Belt and Road Initiative and enhanced transport and trade links via the Middle Corridor, the Prime Minister noted that Georgia-China cooperation had already deepened through trade agreements, visa liberalization, and joint investments in infrastructure and logistics.
“This demonstrates the importance of the Middle Corridor as a platform for connectivity, trade expansion, and the creation of mutually beneficial opportunities”, he stressed.
The Prime Minister expressed certainty that “the strong friendship and cooperation between Georgia and China will deepen further, creating new opportunities for an even stronger partnership”.
