Kakha Kaladze, the incumbent mayor of Tbilisi and the mayoral candidate of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday spoke to the media regarding recent political developments, assuring citizens that the situation in the country would remain stable.
In response to a journalist’s question about his expectations for the upcoming local elections scheduled for Saturday, amid reports that the opposition leaders Paata Burchuladze and Murtaz Zodelava had met with Bacho Akhalaia, architect of the former UNM government's repressive apparatus, Kaladze stated that there would be no revolution or coup in the country.
“On October 4, the Georgian Dream party will win the elections. We will celebrate victory not only in the capital but across all municipalities. There will be no revolution and no state overthrow. If anyone dares to act against the law, there will be a very strict legal response. Whoever wants to meet with whomever - let them meet. We do have various interesting information, but our relevant agencies are working, and I guarantee the people of our country that there will be peace”, the Mayor said.
