Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said his Government was ready to renew its strategic partnership with the United States “from a clean slate” and with a specific roadmap.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasised that Tbilisi’s objective was to restart and strengthen the partnership with Washington in a constructive and forward-looking manner.
“We have a specific goal and task - to renew the strategic partnership with the United States from a clean slate with a concrete roadmap”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister further noted that the recent meeting between Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and US President Donald Trump represented an important step in this direction.
“It is very good that this meeting took place. I hope that it will contribute to renewing our strategic partnership. We are fully prepared for this process. As for the rest, we will await the American position”, he concluded.
During a press briefing in New York, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday said he had urged the United States President Donald Trump to start bilateral relations “with a clean slate”.
In his remarks, Kavelashvili noted that the US President promised him to revisit the issue of restarting relations from a clean slate.
