Levan Machavariani, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday issued a strong warning regarding potential radical actions on October 4, stating that responsibility for any such events would fall not only on radical groups and domestic actors but also on “Eurocrats and ambassadors who encourage all this”.
Speaking to journalists, Machavariani asserted that while everyone has the right to protest, they must not step outside the bounds of the Constitution and the law.
“There are those aiming for radicalism - we have witnessed this for 13 years, with numerous attempts at revolution. There may be attempts to bring chaos, but we will prevent all of them. Every single actor - domestic or external - will be punished with the full force of the law, within the limits of the Constitution. Therefore, we call on everyone to act with extreme caution”, the ruling party MP said.
“Everyone has the right to protest and can do so for years over issues they oppose. But they must remain within constitutional and legal limits. On October 4, if any radicalism occurs, the responsibility will lie not only with these radical groups and our internal actors but also with those European bureaucrats and ambassadors who encourage these actions”, he concluded.
