Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday claimed that certain forces - referring to the entire radical opposition - were constantly seeking to bring instability to the country, a course that runs contrary to the interests of the Georgian people.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that just as in the past 13 years, the plans of the opposition this year were doomed to absolute failure and fiasco.
“What is in the interest of our people will be ensured - peace and stability. Their agenda is to attempt unrest; our agenda is to preserve peace and stability in the country. I am confident that our agenda will prevail”, the PM said.
He further referred to remarks made by a member of the opposition Lelo party Aleko Elisashvili regarding strikes, stating that such intentions persist within the radical opposition despite some later denials.
“They intend to organise strikes if they win the elections, then others deny it, but the fact remains. Such ideas circulate within the radical opposition. As in the last 13 years, their plans this year are destined for absolute failure and fiasco”, he continued.
Regarding any attempts at unrest, the Prime Minister emphasised that his Government would strictly enforce the law, including measures against politically motivated crimes.
“Therefore, I issue another friendly warning to these people: do not dare to attempt this. Otherwise, they will face decisive action. I warn everyone to act with caution and not break the law”, Kobakhidze concluded.
