Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday expressed deep regret over what he described as the EU Ambassador’s direct involvement in fuelling radicalism and polarisation in Georgia.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze criticised Pawel Herczynski, the EU Ambassador to the country, for his actions, noting that such behaviour reflected poorly on European bureaucracy.
“This is another case where it’s no longer interesting to comment on a specific ambassador. Unfortunately, this person has been directly involved in fuelling radicalism and polarisation. This is very unfortunate, as it reflects the negative face of European bureaucracy”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister further added that the Ambassador’s cooperation with activist Anano Tsintsabadze and his refusal to respond to media enquiries were further examples of his interference.
“It is very unfortunate and regrettable when a specific ambassador, especially the EU Ambassador, directly tries to fuel radicalism and polarisation in our country. I won’t make further comments on this. I simply don’t see the need”, he concluded.
