Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday commented on French President Emmanuel Macron’s assessment regarding the US Ambassador’s statement in France, calling it a clear example of double standards and illustrating how certain politicians approach smaller countries.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that some people believe they have the right to do anything when it comes to an independent and sovereign state.
“Some people seem to believe they have the right to do anything-even interfere in the internal affairs of an independent and sovereign state. This is the usual double standard. They consider it normal. Yet, when they face a similar issue themselves, they immediately protest and speak out against interference in another country’s domestic politics”, Kaladze said.
“This is a good example of how these individuals treat smaller countries, like Georgia. However, no one should forget that Georgia is a nation with immense culture, traditions, and history, of which we are proud”, he concluded.
