Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday criticised the domestic opposition representatives for travelling abroad during the pre-election period, claiming they were managed from outside and received instructions on how to act.
In his remarks, Kaladze commented on the visits of the opposition United National Movement party members to Washington and the Lelo party representatives to Brussels.
“This once again confirms that these people have no connection with Georgia or Georgians. It is proof that they are managed from outside and have their patrons. We go out and meet with voters every day, discussing the projects we will implement in the next four years. Meanwhile, they meet their patrons abroad, probably receiving instructions on how to act”, the ruling party official said.
He further noted that this contrast highlighted the ruling Georgian Dream party’s commitment to direct engagement with citizens ahead of the upcoming local elections scheduled for October 4.
“This is the difference - the Georgian Dream party serves and engages with the Georgian people. Most importantly, it does the work of Georgia. The public clearly sees their actions and intentions regarding the country. The Georgian people assess everything well, and just as they passed judgment on them in the [2024] parliamentary elections, they will do the same in the local elections”, he concluded.
