Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday warned that any attempt by the domestic opposition to gain ground through provocations or criminal acts during the October 4 rally would be blocked by law enforcement agencies.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasised that law enforcement agencies had consistently thwarted radical opposition plans over the years and were now even stronger and more united.
“If they hope to gain ground through provocations and committing criminal acts, of course, no one will give anyone the opportunity to do so. Today, our law enforcement bodies are even more strengthened, united, so if they have such ideas, those ideas are not destined to be realised”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister further expressed concern about reports of involvement of Ukraine’s security services in matters that impact Georgia’s national interests.
“As for the involvement of Ukraine’s security services in this matter, it is extremely concerning when representatives of Ukraine’s security agency treat our national interests so harshly. This is not the right attitude toward the Georgian people and the Georgian state”, he concluded.
