Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday said that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) no longer had the willingness to come to Georgia, as it would once again be compelled to reflect the objective reality on the ground - something that directly undermines the revolutionary scenarios of certain political forces.
In his remarks, Kadagishvili noted that this situation was the result of “political backlash” directed at the OSCE/ODIHR after its previous election observation mission in Georgia, in reference to the 2024 parliamentary elections.
He stressed that the organisation’s assessment at the time was objective, stating that Georgia had held competitive elections and that the country had a legitimately elected government.
“Now the OSCE/ODIHR has no desire to come to Georgia, because once again it would have to acknowledge the objective reality of high-level elections. Of course, such conclusions are not in the interests of certain circles in Europe, as they directly undermine the revolutionary scenarios pursued by some”, Kadagishvili concluded.
