Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday sharply criticised recent meetings held by EU Ambassador Paweł Herczyński with opposition-leaning activists, calling the gatherings a driver of polarisation rather than diplomacy.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that these activities were not of a diplomatic nature but served to intensify divisions within society.
“Anyone who contributes to deepening polarisation is a radical”, the ruling party official said.
He further added that activities that encourage hostility and fuel public discord cannot be considered part of diplomatic work, claiming that those involved were “externally managed and funded”, linking them to what he described as a “global war party”.
“It has nothing to do with diplomatic work when someone in this country fuels hatred and drives social division. These people are managed and funded from outside. This is the so-called ‘global war party’. Don’t just take my word for it - listen to the President of the United States. Take his speech and learn it by heart to fully understand what is happening. Trump’s first promise was focused on two key issues: defeating the global war party, which has not yet happened, and ending the war, which also has not yet been achieved. This is the force that controls the world”, Kaladze concluded.
