Georgian Parliament Speaker echoes UK Home Secretary’s remarks on accountability for violence at protests

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday responded to a recent statement by the United Kingdom’s Home Secretary, who stressed that individuals assaulting police officers during protests will face the full force of the law.

In a social media message, Papuashvili underlined the universality of the principle, noting that “this principle sounds just as right in Georgian as it does in English”.

The comment comes amid ongoing discussions in Georgia regarding public order, law enforcement, and the handling of protest-related incidents.
